THE PROCESS
Drying (3-5 weeks) - Clay must dry slowly, especially thicker pieces, so they don’t crack or become damaged during firing.
First firing (bisque firing) - each kiln firing takes about 36 hours. We currently fire our kiln each Tuesday.
Glazing - your instructor carefully glazes your work.
Final firing (glaze firing) - your pieces are fired again to become durable, functional, and finished.
PICKUP
Your instructor will notify you when your items are ready for pick up (typically a Tuesday or when we are having a class). Tuesday pickups are between 8a and 8p.
Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday evenings from 7 to 9; Saturdays 10 AM to noon and 1 PM to 3 PM. If students have booked classes and the classes are being held, those may be potential pick up times. Clay Awhile is not open after 6p on Thursdays.
thank you for trusting the process.
